HAMNIA
Performed at Roter Salon, Silent Green, KulturRaum Zwingli-Kirche and O.Y.E, 2021-2022
Sound and body performance by Daniela Huerta
Hamnia is a meditation on disappearance, honouring the stolen power of women from the Selk’nam tribe, who once inhabited Tierra del Fuego in South America during the 20th century. This tribe was devastated by massacres and acts of genocide, leading to their near extinction.
Presented as a solo live performance, Daniela reinterprets the playful, aggressive, and pleasurable creativity embedded in their myths, while resurrecting their forgotten Matriarchal Myth as a bold experiment in feminine self-empowerment. Hamnia investigates archaic feminine archetypes and ritual forms, informed by wild mythic motifs.
