'Women Painting Women' pour PEINTRES FEMMES, Naissance d'un combat, is a sound narrative in response to paintings by French female artists from the end of the Enlightenment to the threshold of the July Monarchy (1730–1830). The Birth of a Battle features around 70 works on display from public and private French and international collections. The exhibition aims to bring the public’s attention to a largely unknown issue: how the unprecedented rise in the number of women in the fine arts was linked to changes in the organization of artistic production (administration, training, exhibition, criticism), as well as evolving tastes and social practices related to art. The sound piece was presented during the exhibition PEINTRES FEMMES, 1780 - 1830 (Naissance d'un combat) at the Musee Du Luxembourg in Paris (3 March - 4 July 2021).
In 2023, it was released by Tsuku Boshi Records as an album composed of unreleased original material by nine female contemporary artists and musicians Daniela invited. The project took shape through improvisations, collaborations, sketches, and field recordings as a response to these paintings and the French female painters behind them.
